The Wengen Lauberhorn Race Weekend Is a Suisse Winter Dream!

We kicked off 2017 with our inaugural trip to Wengen for big mountain free skiing and World Cup race viewing. Everything about the trip exceeded our expectations from the cozy family hotel in beautiful Lauterbrunnen, where we enjoyed the best food in the valley, to the cold beers after skiing and great company night after night. The races, cog train rides, Suisse Air Patrol Show and scenery and lucky powder skiing made it really special. Since, then we have been back almost every year and it's only gotten more special.

You will enjoy all the race action from the Friday DH/SL Combined, Saturday Lauberhorn Downhill and Sunday Slalom Races, while skiing the best of Wengen under the shadow of the Eiger. There are multiple family run traditional restaurants on the mountain to enjoy, easy access to the racers, coaches and other characters of the World Cup.

Epic freeskiing exists all around us from Murren to Grindewald, the mountains are big and empty with huge potential for great backcountry, sidecountry and guided skiing. Our lodge in Lauterbrunnen allows us to ski anywhere in the Valley from Wengen to Grindewald and Murren after the races and the owners take good care of us.

TRIP HIGHLIGHTS

This is the first World Cup race that Bill Johnson won in 1984 prior to winning Gold at the Olympics. The racers reach their highest speeds on this course and also ski under the train just like David Chappelet (Robert Redford) did in the movie Downhill Racer. The trip includes 7 nights in Lauterbrunnen, 7 days all resorts lift passes, 1 Day of off-piste guided skiing, 3 days of race tickets for the Friday Combined Downhill, Saturday the famous Lauberhorn race and the Sunday slalom and 1 final night in a Zurich airport hotel so we can be there for our early flights home.

" The Lauberhorn DH in Wengen is one of the toughest and most beautiful races on the World Cup circuit. It's the longest at 2 1/2 minutes. It's the fastest topping 100+ MPH in the Hanneggschuss. You jump between a narrow rock chute, cross under a train and you do it all in the shadows of the most incredible mountain in Europe, the Eiger. I was stoked to be go back in 2021 with the ADL. I raced in Wengen 8 times in my career, and I was excited to share what I know about it with the ADL guests. " - AJ Kitt 3x Olympian and DH Legend

Our hotel is located below Wengen in the beautiful town of Lauterbrunnen. Nestled in a dramatic glacier valley our hotel has arguably the best food in the area - fondue, raclette, goulash, roti and local charcuterie. The area is characterized by steep slopes, long runs, and access to an amazing transport system through the Eiger, Schilthorn and the Monch & Jungfrau regions!

The beauty of the area will overwhelm your senses. The Wengen trip is simultaneously relaxing and exciting.
